From tim at saint-uriels.org Sat Jun 14 20:45:41 2008 From: tim at saint-uriels.org (Tim Mansfield) Date: Sat Jun 14 20:45:49 2008 Subject: [st u's community] New server Message-ID: Hi gang, I've been slowly moving the Saint Uriel's site from one server to another when I've had spare minutes. The site's got a bit more on it and the last steps have been to move the mailing lists and so on across. I'm planning a bit more new stuff on the site, a bit more usable navigation and some new sections, but take a look as it is. http://www.saint-uriels.org One of the new things you'll notice (if you go to the "community" section) that I've started aggregating blogs from you folks. I've only got Trish and Luke's for the moment. If you keep a blog and you'd like me to include it, please let me know. The mailing lists (community and announce) have been broken for a couple of weeks, this email is partly a test that they're working. If you notice anything that's broken, please let me know. It would be great if a lot of us could set aside the time to come and additionally great if you could bring some fruit (fresh or dried), nuts or other snacks along on Sunday to share. I'd like to get back into hanging out a little bit after the service and having time to talk. I'd also like to know if people are interested in more in-depth discussions on some topics: - basics of Gnosticism and the Johannite path - the elements of the Eucharist (similar to the walk we did through the parts of the Logos liturgy - why are the various parts there? what is it all for?) - simple esoteric practices - how and why - the basics of daily prayer If any of those are things you'd like to be around for, please let me know. Depending on numbers, I'm thinking of running something either before or after the Eucharist service or somewhere else at another time in the week. Finally, I'd like to make time to talk to anyone who's interested in continuing their initiation in the Western tradition. This is a sequence of rituals that many of you have participated in in other churches at an earlier point in life. Each step marks a moment in your personal journey of discovery. The usual order is: Baptism Confirmation most people stop there. Some feel called to participate in altar service and they choose to take some or all of the four Minor Orders (Ostiarate, Excorsiate, Lectorate, Acolytate). Others feel called to the priestly vocation and they proceed through the Major Orders (Deacon, Priest, Bishop). I'm happy to send more information about any of that or to chat about it. If you'd like to know more, please let me know. In any case, with any luck, God willing - I'll see you on Sunday! Earlier this week Father Tim+ received news that his mother is gravely ill, and he and Anthony have been up in Brisbane this week to be with their family. As I understand it, Kathleen (Tim's mum) is still in hospital, and with diagnoses and treatment plans still being affirmed, it's yet uncertain when Father Tim will be back in Sydney. I'd like to request two things of our community. Firstly, your devotional prayers and well wishes would be most welcomely appreciated - I've copied below the prayer at the conclusion of our General Intercessions as well as the Salvae Regina Sophia prayer from the Apostolic Gnostic Church in America. As you read them, you can pray them, by taking the time to slow down and sit with the words, and be present with the intent and devotion inherent within. Secondly, I'll be doing a tonglen practice from the Tibetan Book of Living and Dying on Sunday night in place of the Divine Liturgy, at 8pm at home in Dulwich Hill. If you'd like to join me here in person please give me a call on 0404 849438. If you'd like to join me online at 8pm please email a response and I'll email through the detail. Apologies for the lateness of the hour on a Sunday, I need to accomodate kids' bedtime in the equation. I thank you for your love, and compassion, and equanimity for Father Tim+, Kathleen, Jenny and all of the Mansfield family at this difficult time in their lives. In light and love, Sr Trish * General intercessions-* Divine Beloved, we stand with you in trust and understanding, seeing also your face in person of our fellow man. Be near to your people and hear our prayer. Help us to remember the teaching of the Christ - "Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?" *Salve Regina Sophia* Hail, Queen of Heaven, Mother most merciful, our life, our sweetness, and our hope. You lead us on this pilgrim journey, and to you we cry when we seem mired, in the pain of exile from our true home. And, gentle Mother Sophia, you soothe our tears. Turn then, most gracious Advocate, your eyes of mercy toward us, and bring us into the unity of the Pleroma, with your heavenly consort, our Lord Jesus Christ. Amen. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: http://laika.gnusto.com/pipermail/community/attachments/20080628/eb5c6748/attachment.htm
