Message-ID: <7B8AC6CD-A966-4E2D-8572-37688AFE8DDB@pobox.com> I think News Ltd is going to have 'epic fail' with their attempt to monetize the e-newspaper biz. But, I'm so often wrong with my predictions. What do you think? 1) too much free (good) competition 2) they never owned information online anyway: we don't regard e-news and p(aper) news the same way 3) the value proposition isn't good in any dimension, short of tokenistical cost 4) charter bodies like the BBC cannot charge, nor the ABC (here) so the competition for news is not other papers, its TV stations who still have (some) lingering national funding and/or ad revenue 5) google won't play. once deep linking into the news webs end, their revenue will end too. ads as-is won't pay, so its a loose-loose until the revenue bucket is empty 6) worldwide no emerging trend yet. yes, british titles, yes, american titles (some) but, if enough independents stick to their guns, it might help topple news ltd, and by gum, they have some goodwill but, having said that, the observer is sunk, so the guardian board of trustees must have some rupert-envy going on right now. -G From flippy at internode.on.net Mon Aug 10 19:29:56 2009 From: flippy at internode.on.net (Ben Dixon) Date: Mon Aug 10 19:30:04 2009 Subject: [eclectika] Alva Noto video Message-ID: <001d01ca1a1a$dac9a380$905cea80$@on.net> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5iABNDvZ8IA I've been a big fan of Carsten Nicolai's music for a long time, and this video clip is no exception :) Ben From justien at gmail.com Tue Aug 11 02:21:22 2009 From: justien at gmail.com (jstn) Date: Tue Aug 11 02:21:33 2009 Subject: [eclectika] Riding through the rowans ... just a man and his keytar Message-ID: Turkey in the late 70s early 80s was a /rocking/ place to be a musician http://matrixsynth.blogspot.com/2009/08/bars-manco-gulpembe.html -- the connotation depends on the beacon, as usual From ralf at muhlberger.com Tue Aug 11 02:52:16 2009 From: ralf at muhlberger.com (Ralf Muhlberger) Date: Tue Aug 11 02:52:30 2009 Subject: [eclectika] Riding through the rowans ... just a man and his keytar In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: <796C87FD-40A7-492B-BAD3-A00E8156DA48@muhlberger.com> I've got a red Yamaha SHS-10.
